PRODUCT AND APPLICATION

Quartz for Engineered Stone

The high hardness of quartz contributes to the abrasion and scratch resistance of engineered stone. The finished slab's impact, stain and chemical resistance also depends on its resin, formulation and production conditions.

During production, quartz granules and powders of different sizes are blended with pigments and decorative additives, with unsaturated polyester resin added as a binder. The mix is loaded into a mould and pressed into a slab.

Colour stability is critical in this process. If grains containing dark mineral and oxide inclusions are not removed, visible variations appear in the slab.
